has anyone tried doing a seat belt relocation from the rear roll bar to the bar that holds the front seat and re-welding the mounting brackets on the floor board backwards, and facing the rear seat so that you would use the rear door? i typically dont use a rear seat (the back is where my dog rides) but on occasions that i am going to "post up" somewhere and watch stuff (drag strip, mudbog, etc) i just flip the back seat around. not much leg room but then again, to comfortably reach my pedals i keep my drivers seat all the way anyway so its not like anyone sitting behind me would be losing any. (and yeah a rear facing seat in the back is perfectly legal toyota did it with captains chairs OE in one of their vans)
wouldnt be real easy but hey just throwing ideas out....

There are sensors hooked to the passenger seat for the airbags. I am sure this is why they no longer fold and tumble. Somewhere there is a thread for moving the seatbelt bolt to the floor mount of the front seat. helps a little to get the belt out of the way.

Solution: Either remove your back seat or your passenger seat.
What do you expect it's a Jeep. We only got the minivan engine, not the rotating captain seats and sliding doors.

Nobody ever wants to sit in the back seat but it's not my problem.
Tell ya what does bother me... Why doesn't the track remember the last position the seat was in? So its not bad enough that the person had to contort to get in the back seat they also have the seat slide back into their face as well.

getting in the rear seat
so no solution?
My '98 TJ had the fold and tumble seat - worked great and plenty of room to climb in.
On my '10 rubi, there is barely enough room for the 9 year old we have to transport once in awhile - she has a very hard time climbing in, and she's a kid!
Worst part is, I didn't even check it when I bought it... I remembered how well the '98 worked, and assumed they woulnd't break something so functional. The first time our guest tried to climb in, my girlfriiend moved the seat and I said "That's not right.. hold on..." I went around and though - son of a bitch - they broke the damn thing!
