only an internet rumor as far as I know.

this has been getting complained about since '07. they did move the mounting of the passenger side guillotine (seat belt) to help, but it still sucks.

its easier for me to get into the backseat this way:

passenger seat all the way up and forward and tilted.
close passenger door.
open drivers door.
climb over drivers seat and console to get to back seat.

way easier. I dont have to go back there often but its easier then shoe horning myself in the passenger side and Im not that big.

Wife and I decided that if we wanted pasengers we would get the 4dr. Since we don't want passengers and wanted the 2dr. we just tossed the back seat into the garage with no regrets.

Default passenger seat replacement

So--has anyone seen a passenger seat replacement for the JK that would allow it to fold and tumble forward like the older jeeps?
It truly is a pain to get stuff in the back, let alone trying to get anyone to get back there.
I talked to Badd Boyz and they said right now, its a custom cut job (redoing the floor boards etc) to make it work (lots of $$)--why oh why did Chrysler break something that worked well---remember the old axiom--if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I wouldn't expect any help from Jeep on the issue. When I was looking for a Jeep and asked about the seat not flipping up the salesman said they changed the seat mounts in the JK to comply with NTSB complaints about the seat mounts breaking during a front end collision in the TJ's. It was one of the reasons we decided to go with a 4dr.

I made the mistake of buying pretty Okle seat covers for the back seat, now I don't want to take it out. But it isn't of any use.

I was going to make my passenger seat a fold and tumble... but the rear seat has only been used maybe 5-10 times since I bought this thing.
