Same boat as you..I also have a sport 2dr but manual. My added mods did make my rig heavier and was considering re-gearing. Although a new intake and exhaust got me back some power I am still overworking the engine so I will eventually re-gear. The parts itself is inexpensive, but previously mentioned installation is what breaks the bank!

Yeah i have intake and exhaust to help with power. but Im not doing major 4 wheeling... Just some weekend offroading. so i didn't know if it would be worth it. i think that might be something i do down the road. When Im done paying it off. I don't plan on getting anything bigger than 33s in the near future. when i can make my jeep a power rig...then ill regear.
Based off all the information i learned. thanks again!

Could someone give an estimate for the cost of a full 4.10 rehear cost? Parts and installation?

Ring and pinion around $200-400, install kits are like $100-150 usually, depending if you get the basic or master kits, and the actual install just depends on where you go for it. Some off road shops offer discounts for certain brands, and some can charge you a lot for it, but will usually give you warranties on everything they install. I think 4WP's quote for both axles is around $8-900, but they'll fix anything if it develops problems for you...

Should be around $1200. Around $300 for gears, oil and install kit and $300 install per axle.

Im curious as to why you want to go with 4:10. P&L will run your between 1500 - 2500 depending on where you go. Its a very expensive mod and should only be performed if the end result will be radically different from where you are now. Unless you have a lot of cash laying around, doing this for a small difference is probably not the way to go.

That's a jeep for you, otherwise your alternative is a Prius if you want better mpg...just saying. You'll probably spend that much anyways to get an acceptable mpg if that's what your going for.

Only thing that would drastically change your mpg's besides gears, CAI, and new exhaust system, would be a supercharger, but that's easily over twice the cost.

Gears are a great mod for what they give you back if you put in the quality ones. The only thing is if you become unsatisfied with the mileage you get after a while, you can't really change the tires to anything smaller than what you were running previously with the new gears. Your rpms would be to high to drive safely...
