Do you ever plan on going to an even larger tire size?

Before you gear decide on the largest tire you plan on running. No need to gear it twice.

For 33's I would go with 4:10 or nothing less than 3:73.

The best regear for a DD, light off-roader/w auto tranny (pre 2012) is 4.88-

One of the best mfgs is YUKON--full rebuiled kits-

It'll make your jeep feel like you had a reengine job/w mileage increase-

There are 5.13s and 5.38s, but thats usually for bigger tires and a lotta offroad use-

Good luck

With no usage or upgrade plans to go on, just turn your OD Off, or go straight to 5.13's.

You could also open the faq's and check the chart.

Did I misread something or are you guys really telling him to gear that high for 33in tires?

I'm running 35" on an auto 3.6 with 3.21s. Not ideal but not worth the $$$ until I do my new front axle and lockers.

With a 3.8 auto? No, you didn't misread. As noted above, he gave zero info on his usage/needs/upgrade plans, so turn the OD off and live with the performance or go to 5.13 and be done with it.

Different engine, different transmission. Can't compare the gearing needs.
