Default Gearing questions

I have a 2 door with 3:21 gears and 33's right now and it sucks! I am thinking about going to 4:56 and 35's. what do I need to do so? Do I just need ring and pinion or is it a lot more in depth? Also is 4:56 gonna be too low with my 33's?

What year is your JK? I'm guessing with 3.21's you a stick? 4.56 is fine if you have a stick w/33's-35's. You will need a new ring pinion with install kits plus a chunk of change to pay the shop to change them as there is a lot involved. Send 4WS.COM a pm for a price. They are about 100 cheaper than anyone ive found for the best quality gears out there.

4.56 is good to helps with gas mileage and better for flatter areas. If you live in hill areas 4.88 would be better.

Because you have the 3.8. I just put 34's on today and I have very minimal power loss on my 3.6 manual with 3.21's. My '07 auto had 4.10's with 33's and it was ok. I'd go with 4.56.
