What shop are you talking to in Indiana? I'm looking for an installer too.

Your d30 with 3.21's will need a new carrier.
Your d44 with 3.21's does not need a new carrier.

A d30 3.73 and up carrier should be around $80ish?
You can find front/rear gears + master install kits for $600ish.
10 hours is fairly standard for labor, I think, multiplied by the shops rate. (so if they charge $100/hr, times 10 hours, = $1000 labor). Shops that do a lot of JK's will have the install time down quite a bit lower than 10 hours, so will charge correspondingly less. Shops that aren't as comfortable doing gears, or don't mind gouging customers, will take longer and/or charge more. (my first re-gear cost $800 for all parts + labor, and was out the door in under 4 hours. After moving to a different state and calling around for my second re-gear to fix the first, the average prices were around $1600 out the door, and they all wanted it for a full day.)

I've been quoted $3,000 for new gears, carriers, etc., and labor.
Carriers? Plural? Are they quoting for lockers, and not just a front open carrier? A pair of selectable lockers (which take the place of the open carriers) would put your total bill in that $3k range.
