Gear selection
Ok so most of my driving is on the road. I do some off roading. And now I'm trying to regear. I want to hear from people who have already done this and your experiance please. I have a 2010 jeep jk sport 2 door STANDARD shift. I currently have 35" tires someday may go up to 37" but not today. I'm looking for the right gear set. My choices are 4.88 or 4.56. According to the gear chart 4.88 is gonna put my rpms up there pretty good when I'm driving down the road. Any advice would be appreciated.

Chris. Is there a sound reason your making that suggestion? What are the benefits of the 4.88's over the 4.56? Won't I be over revving in a standard with 4.88?

You will get your stock gearing back with 4.88's on 35's. With the 3.8 you need all the power you can get spinning 35's. if you ever decide to jump up to 37's (you will). You will still have the gearing you need to turn them. The RPM difference between 4.56's and 4.88's is not enough to worry. Plus your spinning way heavy tires.

From personal experience owning a 07 2 door. I ran 5.13's with 35's. It was like a rocket for torque. Then when we stepped up to 37's, We had the gearing we needed. I think you would be happier with 4.88's.
