Unless you can do all the work yourself, I'd say no; if you're going to regear go for the 4:56, you'll be much happier. Prices vary, of course, but cost me about $1,500.00 in Louisville, KY.

I voted for the 4.56 because "stock" has too many variables? stock 3.21? stock 3.73? stock 4.10?
I am running 3.73 with 35's and the power is OK. If I were to re-gear it would probably be to 4.10's

It's faster than stock but still runs ok on the freeway (2600 rpm's at 70). Mpg suffered some, but hey, it's a jeep. I'm heading to Colorado soon where I plan to do some 'real' offroading. I think 4:88's are too low for 35's, especially a DD, but this is just my opinion.
Your rpm with 4.88s would be 183 higher than with 4.56s at 70 mph.

Off road in CO, the 4.88s would do better.

Through the CO mountain passes, the extra power from the 183 higher rpm would reduce transmission downshifting--resulting in better mpg.

I doubt that 183 higher rpm at 70 mph would make a perceivable difference in mpg on flat highways.

I'm not an engineer, but I have many of them as clients.

4.56s aren't bad. For someone who drives and wheels at CO elevations and terrain, 4.88s would be better.

If I went this route, it would be something I had done myself by a mechanic friend. Just thought if I could do for $500 or less then I may explore IF there were any real benefits.

2014 JKU Auto tranny with 3.21 stock gears on 35's drove it that way for about 2 weeks, and hated every second of it.....thing would not get up and go, merging on to the highway I had to sweet talk it and put it to the floor. Put 4.56's in and boy was it a night and day difference I think it has more get up than it did stock. I cant speak for the other ratios, but it was worth every penny I spent which was about 115,000 of them.
