Here's actually the best pattern I've gotten on the rear. Original carrier with an Aussie locker. New 4.88s with all new bearings.

Oh that is another story. We built a plate with bolt holes and a center hole to match the flange. We welded that to a long pipe for leverage. Then wedge that pipe to the frame or floor. Then a 3/4 drive socket, ratchet and loooong pipe on the pinion nut. The alternative is a high torque impact. Once it starts to snug up, check often with the torque wrench. It doesn't take much to go too far.

I have an Adams driveshaft in the rear, so I ended up taking a pipe wrench and putting it on the yoke where it's kind of box shaped, and putting a floor jack against it. Worked pretty well but it was a pain in the ass. Couldn't find a 1 5/16 socket anywhere so I used a dremel to shave a bit from the inside of the yoke and the outside of a 36mm socket to fit. Got it all done and took it for a spin. Everything felt fine and drove nicely. I added an Aussie locker back there at the same time. It's extremely loud. The jeep kind of felt like it had a lot of backlash if that makes sense but I'm pretty sure it was the locker. Hard to distinguish between what's normal for that and abnormal for the gears. I guess I'll find out at 500 miles how good of a job I did... Hopefully I don't find out sooner, lol. Thanks for the help though
, I really appreciate it.
