Right, which is why we suggested putting more pressure on the pinion when you turn the ring gear to get the pattern so that the teeth create more of a contact. Then you get a clearer picture instead of just the thin line. Can you redo the pattern with more pressure/tension on the pinion and then repost some pictures?

Yes I can do that! I thought that may have been the issue but I wasn't 100% sure. Thanks!

And this is what you should be getting. Is it possible the carrier shims got mixed up left and right side?

I started with a "blank" housing, so I had no shims to start out with. I see now that sharp line, thanks for the picture! Would you suggest pulling some shims from the pinion?

As it stands you first need to shift some shims from one side of the carrier to the other to get the pinion back out of the ring gear a bit. Then check the backlash again. The amount of backlash will tell you whether or not you need to remove shims from the pinion.

Readjusted shims. .005 backlash this is the pattern.. Any thoughts
