If you have alot of miles on your jeep it wouldn't hurt to have a tune up.

in my JKU I have 3.73's and 35's, and I consistantly get 15 to 17mpg. Not to bad, but I am debating on regearing to see if that helps mileage any.

I believe he was referring to fluid and filter changes, tire pressure all that fuel mileage stuff related to the post. the wide use of fuel injection in mass production was sometime in the mid 80's. It was use on specific models as early as the late 50's.

4a. If you have a tuner put it on an economy/mileage mode

You might get a mpg or two from doing these things. Driver mod will net the most if you drive irratically and or way above the 65mph range.
That's four darn good ideas.

If you use the rig for DD, leave as much gear on the garage floor as possible during the week.

Also, a Wrangler has the areodynamics of a brick so relax and keep the highway speed down. The loud pedal is the enemy if you want to save fuel.

Finally, consider a second set of wheels with "all season" tires. Use them to commute; change wheels for the weekend. You won't look as cool, but oh well.

Have a K&N and regular tune into wind about 18 mpg (16.5 last time). Set my Predator Sport to 87 tune and with a very slight side tail wind had 22 mpg. will take a while to pay off in gas savings but the extra 20 torque is worth it, especially when towing or driving into the wind.

I just drove 1200 miles, all highway, across mostly flat land, and kept close track of my mileage. I'm on 37x13.50 Mickey Thompson ATZs, at 28psi, and 5.38 gears with an auto. At 65 I got 13.8 mpg, and at 75 I was down to 12.3 mpg. Most of the trip was into a 15mph headwind, so that didn't help at all. I'm making the same trip in reverse this week, and hope the wind cooperates and I have a tailwind going home!

It is all driving habits. I have a 07 jku with 4:10 gears and 35" MTZ tires. And in 6th gear at about 62 mph I have average around 20 mpg. I just did this driving out of town 4 hours each way. My wife has a 09 2dr with 3:21 gears with 33" tires and I can do the same with her's in 5th gear at 65 mph again I can average 20 mpg.

This is a photo of my peak mileage from our trip this pasted weekend in my jku.

Driving habits are part of the equation. So is physics (larger tires, greater mass and moment arm, greater energy consumption). So are weather and terrain. So is speedometer calibration (rarely does my MPG indicator show within 10% of the actual, hand calculated gas mileage). So is quality of gas. So is vehicle weight.

I saw my MPG numbers vary from 10.6 to 17.2 in a trip to Utah this past couple weeks. Trying to compare your numbers and mine or anyone elses is an exercise in futility.
