Crap! Complicates things a bit. I wonder if new brackets are needed or just welding grade 8 washers or some type of plate metal and then drill the plate or something like that to the existing bracket.

Washers will work fine, and now you'll have a round hole instead of a square one!

Don't we all

Just make sure that the washer face is a big enough diameter to properly cover the slot, and that the ID is a snug fit the LCA bolt.
