That doesn't help if you're parked at a meter or on a city street. Came back from lunch once and there was a ticket in my window. $25. Bastards.

Not having a front plate usually only affects you parking in the city. The parking police are great at finding minor infractions. I used to have a car I didn't run a front plate on and I just kept it in the glove box and stuck it on the passenger side of the front window when I parked. Never got a ticket once I started doing that.
Now I prefer to avoid giving the police an excuse to have an interaction with me so if I know something is illegal i don't do it. For hawse fairleads the AEV front license plate is nice. It holds the bottom of the plate at the height of the bottom of the fairlead so the plate doesn't become your lowest point. 2 threaded knobs make for a quick plate removal for 4wheeling and help keep junk and road grime out of your synthetic cable and winch.
