Default Front drive shaft options

Hello again guys - need some advice on Front drive shafts. Noticed that I tore the boot and now it's clicking when I press on the gas in 4WD. The Jeep isn't going off roading again so I really don't want to spend $600 on a Tom Woods. Is their a cheaper alternative that anyone can suggest. Like I said the Jeep has 130k on it now and I will be taking it easy on it.

3.25 lift with 35s.

Try one of your local driveline shops.

Would a local rebuild the stock or replace with their own?

They would just build a new one using spicer components like every one else does. You would swap the yolks to a 1310 u-joint.

Do you guess this would be cheaper than buying a new one?

You would be buying a new one. Shop your local shops and see what the prices are. I had the Hall brothers build mine down in Champaign for around $300. May be a bit higher up in Chicago.

You tore the middle boot, and it is slapping as the shaft spins? Or the joint at the tcase has lost all of its grease and dried out? If it's the middle boot, just rip it off. If it's the joint, you have options.

Never going offroad again, just remove the shaft and drive without. Or, several companies make rebuild kits. (Teraflex has a decent video on installing their kit, actually looks like a nice high angle replacement joint. No reviews yet though).

If you want aftermarket, I think Adams might be the lowest priced still for the nationally advertised ones. Local driveline shops, you'll just have to check prices. (my local shop is significantly more expensive than ordering one). Also note that you have options on joints (brand, greasable/solid), and options on mounting (swap the flange/yoke, or direct replacement with adapter plates).

It might not be a bad idea to spend a little time researching before just pulling out the credit card...
