Fox/King shocks???
#31
Do you see any external knocks or damage on the shock ?
They're tucked up pretty high, so I'd guess that the build of the shock was faulty, or a very rare case of a faulty shock.
I have yet to see a problem with a Fox shock which was properly built and installed.

He said something about tough use, not long time use.
I see Fox and King shocks that work flawlessly on hard working Jeeps for well over 5 years.
The oldest Fox I know of is, I think, 8 years old. The guy offroads much more than I do, and never had a problem with it.

You don't specify the specific Fox or King models, both have many options,
so no one can answer you.
But yes, for parallel models, the King would cost much more than the Fox.
Part of the difference is that the King are made very massive, but
I believe that they also charge more because of their brand name.
I could get either, and got the Fox shocks simply because they're
very, very good, so there was no reason to pay so much more for King.
If you want the knowing of having the very best, regardless of price, get the King...
If you prefer to get super reliable shocks but pay less, get the Fox...
If I replace the Fox, it'll be for the model with the tuning knob.

If you had a Fox or King with the wrong valving, they would have been awful.
If you had a so-so shock with the proper valving, you'd have had the same Cadillac ride.
The quality difference is in how long would each of 'em keep being "nice".

I don't know about the exact US prices, as I got my Fox in Israel.

That is a sweet rig!
