fox,elka,bumstops?
Alright well I have decided to go with the 4" lcg teraflex lift and I know they partner up with fox and elka. I would like to know which would be best for me...well my jeep is a dd for now and want the smoothest ride possible. I do like to go wheeling every other weekend but I drive mostly city and highway. I also want to know the real benefit for speed bumps...are they worth it? Thanks, joe!

Great question as I'm interested in the answer as well. I've heard just the opposite as the previous post. I've heard that the Elkas were a bit stiff and that the fox shocks were very plush.

for rockcrawling, i don't think they make a difference at all. i mean, they work well but, so do a set of bilsteins. hands down, elka's do best to eat up bumps when driving at faster speeds down fire roads or desert washes.

Send KSRubicon a PM. He is running those on his 2012. I met up with him last week and got to take his for a ride. Thanks Matt.
I only drove it for a bout 5 minutes, but the Elka's made the feel better than stock. It didn't feel harsh, but did feel firm on the bumps. I really liked the ride. the slower speeds felt the most firm. The faster you went, it felt like it smoothed out more. not washy at all in the corners. He is running a 4.5AEV lift w/ 37 12.50 MTR Kevlars.
I have also drove a 2010JK with the bilstein 5100's on the AEV 3.5 lift. They too handled great! They soak up the bumps and don't feel too floaty like the stock Rubicon shocks do. I think this are the best DD shock without adding the extra expense of Resi shocks. Rob is running the 3.5" aev lift with stock rubicon wheels/ tires.
The Fox shocks felt the most stiff out of these 3 to me. The firmness of the Terra tuned shocks felt good at higher speeds than at the lower "in town" speeds. However, I'm not sure what his tire preassure was set to and I know that can make a difference too. Those were Terra tuned on the(EDIT) 4" terra lift with 35 PCXMT's.
To be clear though, I only got to sample these for 5 to 10 minutes, so my opinion is limted based on the short drives I was able to take.
In my mind, I will more than likely use the Elka's this time. just need to save some funds up.
...hope that helps some.

I have had Skyjacker,Teraflex, Elka, and now Fox.
Wayalife is correct, the Elka's are pretty firm and the Foxes are a shade firmer than the Elka's. They both work very well at soaking up big bumps going fairly fast, but are a little stiff around town. I like the way they make my Jeep feel more planted and dive less in bumpy corners. I probably drive more aggresively than most off road though. And my Jeep is heavy which helps soften the ride.

i recently went through the same debate. you may also want to look at bilstiend 5160 remote res shock. From what i have herd they iare not as good as the elkas at pre running type stuff but are more comfortable around town.
