Fox or Bilstein?!

I had the Fox 2.0 at first, they were excellent off road, especially in long rock crawls, but seemed rather rough handling on rougher paved roads (which we have a lot of here in Michigan... even around Livonia). I tried a set of bilstein 5100's next and they seemed to do equally as well off road, but rode much smoother on pavement- they do feel a bit "bouncy" at times on those same rough paved roads, but it's a smoother bounce; not a jarring/jittery bounce.
Not to say that the fox's were bad by any means, just that on my jeep in my opinion and preference I liked the Bilsteins. Until I feel like emptying my wallets on coilovers, thats the shock I plan on sticking with.

I had Bilstein and I love their smooth ride but they only gave me two years of service. Now, I’m looking at Fox shocks - Fox Racing Shox. I heard some good reviews about them. But since I’m not much familiar with this brand, I’m having a hard time to choose. So, what type of Fox shocks do you guys have?

If you don't care about price, get something tunable. Truth be told everyone's ride preference will be different. Spring rate and vehicle weight as well as driving style play into ride quality from a shock.
Bilstiens are a cheap throw away shock that does pretty good. For a little more though, you can get something rebuildable and tunable. King, fox, RK, all make shocks that you can customize exactly to your desires.
If you want to go an easier route, you can try the rancho shocks (xl 9000 I believe) which have a tunable dial at the bottom of the shock to adjust the orifice, changing compression/rebound rates.

If your running tf, get their elka shocks. They are amazing. Run them on my motorcycles with perfect results. Can't see the jeep ones being any different.

X2 if money isn't an issue. Kings would be another good choice. I prefer my 5100 to the Fox. The Fox were too stiff for me.

Teraflex tuned Fox over the bilsteins.
I just installed a set of Rancho's newer 7000's which are very much like the 5100's but have less of a gas charge.
Something like 75 psi iirc.
Having both of the jeep, the TF Tuned Fox shock compresses a lot easier then the 7000's which actually surprised me.
If you do choose Fox. Make sure they have the correct valving for the Jk. Teraflex and BDS Are the only 2 company's I know of that do this.
As far as my 7000's. I haven't driven long enough on them but they are a firm shock.
