The only backpressure you want/need in a turbo diesel happens in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. It is entertaining when I hear mention that "you need a muffler to help the turbo spool". Turbo spooling is a result of the fuel delevery, exhaust turbine vs. compressor size, and turbo exhaust housing dimentions. Anything post turbo only slows exhaust velocity.
