Fishing
I'm working on a design for a interior mount for my fishing rods. I'm sure it will be basic but any input would be good just in case someone wants the plans to build their own. I build my own fishing rods so I like them secure in side the 4 door hard top.

This might be too basic for your needs, but I use 8" velco strips to wrap and secure my rods to the diagonal rear rollbar, leaving the reel end on the trunk floor and rods pointed upwards and resting over the rear seat. Can velco 4 rods this way and not get tangled.

I'm thinking some PVC pipe (cheep and tough) cap on the front.
Slots for the reel posts (4 or 5) to slide in to and a cap on the back.
Smaller PVC pipe epoxy'd to the pipe where it crosses the cage over head,
with caps.
Thick/wide zip ties to hold it to the cage, caps will keep the it from coming off the zip ties.
Cap on the back that locks, pins epoxy'd to the pipe and J slots in the cap to hold it on.
There is some interest so I'll get the tape mesure out and price the PVC.
I'll look at both the gray and white PVC.
I'm not a computer drafter so it will be on paper, I take a picture when I have a plan.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one. I'm not sure what size rods your carrying but I need to figure out how to transport an 11ft / 2 piece rod to the beach. I have tubes on the front for crusing the sand but its not a good way to travel down the highway.

I've been using PVC cases for a number of years now. Esp with 2 pc rods, a short section of PVC fits in the back of my 4-dr with no issues. Granted, I haven't figured out how to make them so I can leave the reels on yet.
I was planning on making a rack for the top of my jeep where I have 3-4 tubes lined up on my Thule bars with screw access caps on the back. Just slide the rods in and screw the cap back on... oh, and make sure you wrap the rod in cheap foam pipe insulation!
For the interior, the same concept should work, just mount it to the roll bar and sound bar... if you put them off to the passenger side, hitting your head shouldn't be an issue! Passengers, they're typically expendable...
Post pics if/when you do make something... my mod won't be until late march, but i'll post it once I've done it...
