Default First Post, am I wrong here?

I am the very proud new owner of a Silver 2012 Wrangler Unlimited with silver hardtop. I have always been jealous of Jeep owners and I got a great deal while deployed so this was a divorce present for me. I decided to powdercoat the stock wheels and get replacement bumpers. I ordered similar bumpers from website X and called to make sure they were the correct ones beforehand. They were shipped to the dealer and the rear arrived within about 4 days. After 8 days the front had not arrived so I called and was told there had been a problem and it just hadn't shipped. Normally this wouldn't have been a huge deal but I had to move to a new duty station in 3 days, so they had to ship to a new address and I would have to pay separate places to do the installation. After arriving here in South Carolina, I take my new front to a local dealer who opens the box to discover that it was missing the proper mounting brackets needed to make it fit onto the 2012 model after Jeep had done some redesign inside the front end. Also this bumper had several spots where the powdercoating had been scratched off and was now rusting. It had been new in the box and the box was not damaged. Of course the website offered to take the old one back and replace it, although they wouldn't ship a new one until the old one arrived back with them, but the mounting brackets aren't available until march so it wouldn't really matter anyway.
Am I being a whiner about this? Is this type of treatment normal in this industry? Not trying to be a smartass, I just don;t know. The site has not offered to do anything to take care of me beyond simply returning the front. I am not asking for anything crazy, but I feel like this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced after spending $1000 somewhere.
By the way, I love the truck and am very happy with it otherwise. I have been trolling this site for a long time and really appreciate all the help and advice that the smart people on here provide to the inexperienced.

I don't think you've whined, so far. You're relating the facts of the case.

What you are experiencing isn't real common, but it's nothing new. All you can do is keep pushing for what you want, do what it takes to get there, until you decide you just want your money back. I quit getting mad about stuff like this a long time ago.

What he said, but calling it a truck is okay, just don't use that C word...

I sure would like to know what website you used. I do not want to make the same mistake and then have to deal with the frustrations of poor service.

As a general rule, so far, I have only ordered from local shops so that I can return it without difficulties. However, that might not always be an option.

Do share.

What modifications are they talking about. As far as I know the only differences I know of is that they moved the vacumn canister and it gets in the way of some bumpers. If thats what it is you can either just fab a bracket yourself or get one from someone else. They should take responsibility for making sure their stuff fits.

This is what I think you should expect........... I just ordered a front winch bumper from LoD. I didn't bother telling them I had gotten a 2012. If I would have ordered it thru their Website it would have caught me and told me I needed the bracket. I called them directly and asked them to get me out a bumper quickly. I went to install it yesterday and figured out I needed the bracket. I called them this morning. Chris volenteered to overnight it. I said 2 day delivery is fine as long as I get it before my winch arrives Monday afternoon. He said he would get it out today for sure.

Northridge 4x4 is really good and probably offers the best shipping of there but I've ordered alot of stuff from quadratec and 4wd hardware, all have great customer service IMO

Definitely not the norm in the industry, especially with easy access to forums like this one where disgruntled customers are free to vent. You should definitely point this out to the businesses customer service rep, reminding them that you are a member of the forum, as well as a servicemember who has no problem warning large jeep factions about said company's pitfalls. If they are wise, they would at least offer you some sort of reimbursement or credit for further purchases. Thanks for your service!
