Chopping is fine, I've done it on mine before. I just think it looks kind of cheap. I understand prioritizing mid money so if that's the case, then by all means chop them.

I think the trick to chopping them and making them look not cheap is to leave just a little bit Of the corner transition on then add the door moulding. Click image for larger version

To me the chopped one just look thin, and I really don't like most of the thin after market ones. I am thinking About Hurricane Fenders, so I can run 35's with a leveling lift. They look heavier.

if you plan on swapping stock plastic with after market plastic the I say just trim it.
