Falken Wild Peak A/T VS Nitto Terra Grapplers
Hi all,
I have been searching up and down several forums for a good comparison for these 2 tires and there really isn't. I am in the market for new tires and I will be purchasing from DTD and these are the 2 that are affordable in my size range 295/70/17.
I will be using what ever I buy mainly on road because my jeep is my DD. There are times when I have to get through some mud/pull someone out of the mud, I have read reviews and watched some videos that say the Nittos do struggle a little in the mud but nothing comparing the 2.
I was just wondering if anyone can help me compare the 2 tires and hopefully make my decision a little easier.

I haven't really, but my main concern is that 285/75/17 will be a little too close to 34" tires and be a tad bit much for my 3.21 gearing. Not to mention that they are out of stock on Tread Depot.

I ran 295/75/16 Terra Grapplers, and am now running 325/80/16 RockyMountains (wildpeaks).
Other than the 3" size difference, I can't say that either of them out-performs the other. (street/hwy, dirt/gravel trails, light rocks, snow/ice, light mud)
I don't have any deep mud around me, so no idea. But if you need a mud tire, why look at all-terrains...
Just from a 'looks' perspective, the Terra's are slightly more aggressive. (Which is really the only negative comment I have about the Falkens, kinda wimpy looking.)

Just put 285/70/17 toyo open country at2's on my jk and they measure about 32.9 at 34 psi. Took them to Southington off road park last week and the melting snow and mud didn't make a difference. These are a great tire for occasional off roading.

Sorry dog! You are right I keep checking. I'm in a pickle as well and have 3.73 gears and not sure to get that size either.

More Decisions..........I reached out to my tire guy(been buying through his shop for years) and asked him to price quote the falcons and the Toyo's also the Nitto's and browsing the web I found The Cooper St MAXX which i had him check on as well. I guess because I have heard mostly good things about all of these tires I am going with the ones he can get me the best deal on. Hopefully it pays off for me and my uses in the end.

I just replaced my 285/70/17 toyo open countrys a/ts with 305/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers G2s, have a 2 1/2 inch lift, no rubbing, grapplers are a little noisier than toyos but not really loud, grapplers have better traction and actually ride better than toyos. I was very disappointed with the toyos, only thing i think is better with the toyos are that they wear very well and give you alot of mileage, had over 60,000 on them when i changed out and had tread left. just my opinion.
