if its 1200 just for labor that is high, but I guess beggers cant be choosers if thats the only place that can do them up there

sorry I read that wrong. I payed 550 for just labor. My superior gears, install kits, bearings, and labor all together cost me about 1200.

I paid $1000 for labor on gears, which is high. $1200 is getting abit rediculous. My shop , shopped out the gears to another guy, so my thinking is they made at least a few hundred bucks on the deal. If the shop doing the install is in house, that's way too much.$100 an hour labor, max 8 hrs for the gears, $800. Anything more and they're ripping you a new one.

Look at shops that are up to 200 miles away. You may be able to get a great quote from a farther shop and the long drive home would help breaking in the gears. You would still come out on top too, spending about $75 in gas round trip.
