Factory 16 Wheel and Tire to Factory 18 Swapout With TPMS light Issue ?
So I went through several threads on the TPMS light and I understand that I need to either go to the dealer to reset it or get a Procal to disable it but I am also concerned with the TPMS compatibility due to the possible year. Here's why...
Basically I just bought a 2012 JK 2dr Sport with the 16" Steelies. I then picked up some 18" Sahara Wheels and 255/70/18 tires off of Craigslist that only had like 2k miles on them. The guy I purchased them from had a new Wrangler Sahara Unlimited but I'm not sure if it was a 2012 or a 2013. I read how the 2013 uses a different frequency and that older TPMS sensors would not work with the new system.
So my question is if they are 2013 sensors will it work with my 2012 system? (Basically vice versa what I know doesn't work) I'd like to just drive the jeep and and have the recalibrate it but am now wondering if I need to load up all 5 of my sleelies in the back and have them do complete swap outs and tire remounts of the tpms/etc. Seems like they may charge me a lot for all that.
I'm considering just buying a Procal and disabling it since I need to recalibrate for size as well as TPMS but am looking for a cheap fix. (And not one that involves black electrical tape to cover the light, lol) Any advice?
