Default California Peeps

After contacting 3 Jeep dealerships in my area and 5 phone calls to the Jeep Customer Service Center and dealing with the "Senior Resolution Team," today they said my exhaust manifold would not be covered under my California Emission Warranty. Thanks to people on this forum and the CARB (California Air Resource Board) I feel I have sufficient documentation to file a formal complaint through the CARB. Who knows what will happen, but I just wanted to follow up in case anybody else had any similar experiences.

That's BS. Its truly unreal how poor chrysler customer service has gotten.

I can't believe that they're going to let it go. Keep their feet to the fire!

My driver's side cracked. I replaced the gasket and manifold myself. I did not persue a warranty claim, so I can't help you there.

The driver's side is "redesigned". The "revision code", sometimes called the "engineering code" on the part has changed. There is additional material in the area where my crack formed. I have no idea if this is a real fix from Chrysler or just an easy way out patch because it was simple to modify the mold the parts were cast in. Hopefully it will prevent a re-occurrence.

My driver's side manifold took about 30 minutes to complete.

That's interesting. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they gave it a full diagnoses, instead of the "unofficial" free one I received several days ago. My driver side manifold is actually cracked and is missing a chunk. To compound things one of the bolts holding it on is broken. Didn't want to deal with that headache if I tackled it myself so I just bit the bullet and had them replace the manifold and extract the bolt.

Hope this manifold lasts now since it has been redesigned. Thanks for your insight.

It should be covered if you read a little ways down it specifically says it's covered.

EMISSION RELATED PARTS

These are examples of other parts of your vehicle which have a
primary purpose other than emissions control but which nevertheless
have significant effects on your vehicle's emissions. If any of these
parts fail to function or function improperly, your vehicle's
emissions may exceed federal standards. Therefore, when any of the
parts of the following systems are defective in materials or
workmanship and have failed in a way that would be likely to cause
your vehicle's emissions to exceed federal standards, they should be
repaired or replaced under the emissions warranty:

Fuel Injection System

fuel distributor

Air Induction System

turbocharger intake manifold

Exhaust System

exhaust manifold

Ignition System

distributor spark plugs
ignition wires and coil

Printing this off and going to the dealership so we'll see.

It's not covered to 80K i misread the link I provided. I repaired mine with cast iron brazing rods and Oxy/Ace torch. Too bad there isn't a recall on defective parts like this.
