EVO Rock Stars - input needed please?

if DEDDUC is the person who started the thread on here about this that i am thinking of, i think Mel only recommended he not use the rockstars bc DEDDUC was more concerned with losing alittle flex than gaining the 1.5" of clearance. if i am thinking of a different thread, i apologize.

I put these on and had to cut the sway bar link off and also had to mod them for the OME LT shocks. Those are both minor adjustments to make.
To comment on an earlier thread these are shaped more like a skid than the stock mount and will help you slide over not to mention the 1.5" of clearance gained. They also move the shock behind the bracket which adds protection. I'm not sure how you would have less travel unless your shock would bottom out. I actually gained more articulation with them.

Informative thread though guys, I appreciate everyone's input!

i dont understand how you "lose" flex with these...i have rockstars on my rig, and they give more drop than stock since in normal situations the shock is more compressed....allowing further drop..
either way these are a great mod. my shock mounts and CA mounts were bashed to hell before I put these on.

I'm not sure either 07, I'm just commenting on the comment.
Trying to put this issue to rest (for me anyway), I hopped on my creeper and slid under my rig a little while ago. I've got a couple kisses on the EVO rear lower control arm skids I installed last year...
...but nothing too dreadful looking. And yes, I do wheel the JK hard. As a singular for instance, I've gone up Potato Salad Hill in Moab, first attempt, with very little gas pedal. Several difficult trails in addition to that too, e.g Moab Rim, Metal Masher incl. the Widowmaker obstacle, etc.

I've arrived at the conclusion I don't need the Rock Stars. Nice to have perhaps, but I'll probably invest that mod money elsewhere. Again, I absolutely appreciate everyone's views and input on this thread, all posts have been valuable to me.
Thanks,
UD

I wanted the rockstars but after talking with ORE, I measured the distance until my shocks bottomed out, and I measured the distance until my bump stops bottomed out.
If I would have put on rockstars, I would have bottomed out my shock before the bump stop and that's bad. So I just put on the LCA skids as shown above. They're plenty strong and I don't really worry about hitting them.

EVO Rock Stars - input needed please?
I was referring to the possibility of needing longer bump stops to avoid bottoming out the shock. If you end up needing longer BSs your tires won't stuff as much. With that said, I didn't end up needing longer BSs.

yeah this one has been throwing me off as well. Mine are tore up pretty bad. Guess ill jsut wait till the are retarded to mess with them. Here in the appalachinzzz you have some really big rocks but when you come off of them you have a million little ones. We call them DIFF smackers. But now all the JK owners call them SHOCK MOUNT SMASHERS. There is another kit out the that will only move them up .75 inch's and allow you to cut off the access metal from the shock mount. I think that's what im going to go with.

If that's the case, it's an easy decision for me to make; I prefer to retain maximum wheel travel than add a bit of extra clearance out near the tires. Just my choice, not flaming any fans of the Rock Stars.

I'd like to put these on my stock '10 Sport. The OEM shocks are on it, but I have some red Rubi's, too. I'm guessing I need to jack up each side and see how close the shocks are to bottoming out. I think a stock Jeep with little 32's would benefit the most from these.
Has anyone put them on a stock Jeep?
