Have the gussets and skids in hand.



My shop is charging...
$240 to install without removing the ball joints (ORE advised my shop you can wrap the balljoints with wet rags, etc... One of the ORE techs advised that they actually do it this way in house)
My shop will guarentee the work if they remove the ball joints.

or

$560 to do it with removing the ball joints (officially recommended by ORE in their instructions)
They will do everything they can to protect them, but will not cover any damage to the ball joints.

Again, they have talked to ORE and are willing to to it either way.

What have you done... or what did your shop do?

I left the ball joints in and got my buddy to do it for free in my work shop.

Just to let you know I have been driving on them for two weeks and I went and got a front end inspection done at dodge and I have no problems.. just leave them in

I left the ball joints in as well. I used wet rags to keep them cool and followed ORE's welding instructions. Installed the tubes at the same time. They've been in for about 6 months. No problems.

Thanks guys. I'm going to get it done tomorrow morning. Just going to leave them on there.

I figure that since the manufacturer of the product + 2 other sources say I'll be fine, I can get on with my life. :-)

I've had mine for a year, ball joints were left in, think they used co2 to keep them cool. No probs

I've welded "Alot" of the gussets, and leave the joints in. Normaly, I weld only one side of the upper at a time. Then use a blow gun to control the heat. Never had a problem once!

Oh, we charge only $140 to weld them on.

The above weld looks great. My shop did admit that fab shops could do this faster and ultimately cheaper than them.

My shop is a client of mine, and I'm trying to support local business in my little town. (although it usually ends up costing me more)

check your ball joints as they maybe shot already and it might be a good idea to replace them after you weld anyways. My ball joints were shot at 30K miles.

I left my ball joints in when welding.

If you are paying more than $150 to have them welded in, you are paying to much. I have welded on quite a few sets with no problems. And have not removed any ball joints.

I have in the past heard to disconnect battery terminals
can anyone who has installed these gussets please give some
sort of checklist.
