Relocated mine and took similar approach as Serg5000. The relocating kits are a great, but it can definitely be done for less than $10 on your own.
As far as codes go, when I went to relocate mine I found out I had already cracked a spout for one of the tubes and never got anything. That was over this past summer, now I get one once in a while, but just clear it with the Flashpaq.

relocating in a 2dr is alittle tougher thana 4dr. The space behind the muffler is too small for the 2dr but just above the gas filler tube is a spot for the 2dr. Extra hose and a few clamps, some contortionist abilities and your done.

Default I do like Poison Spider Skid

Now I guess its just gonna come down to when it's time to Buy- What am I going to do, I like the Idea of relocating, but I do like the beefy Skid Plate by Poison Spider

2Dr relocate is not an option, with some liftkits, skids your best bet
