I have an 07 and the dealer flashed mine with the new TSB about a week ago, and I still haven't been able to turn it off. I think I'll be wiring in a switch shortly.

I pulled the f7 fuse when offroading. This has worked just fine but I think I'm going to try the procedure to see if mine is equipped with feature.

I installed the switch like others on here cause I had problems on clover leafs mostly. When took off my BB and installed a SL 4in kit I realized how bad the esp can get if your steering wheel isn't re-centered. It took me re- centering and test driving three times to get it right on the money. I realized the whole time that I was driving with the BB on that my steering wasn't centered. I had gotten so used to driving and the steering wheel not being perfectly straight when I drove straight, I just thought that was the way it was supposed to be. It may not even come from the dealer straight all the time. If you drive in a straight lin and your having to hold your steering wheel a little to the left or right it needs to be re- centered. Again a big thanks goes out to WOL for all his write-ups. ( And don't call me a kiss-up, this site is free to everyone and WOL has put alot of good info out there for us, I'm tired of seeing people bash the sponsers who have alot to do with keeping this site up)

Default It's not always the steering wheel

I had my wheel centered, then the ESP light came on in conjunction with the BAS light as well. Everyone kept telling me it was the steering wheel. The dealership centered the wheel and told me it was finally fixed, and then a day later, the light came on again. For me, it finally took replacing the clock spring (under warranty) to make the light go off. After reading many other posts, I realized that this is a part that is often faulty, and upon replacing it, Voila!, no more lights.

Moral of the story....get your wheel straight, and if you're still having problems, have the dealer check the clock spring. Search this forum for other threads related to this and you will see.....

Ahhh the clock spring, yep I didn't even think about that , but wouldn't you have lost the cruise control too when it's broken? I maybe wrong here but my Dodge minivan has a broken clock spring , cruise, horn don't work along with the ABS light staying on. Did you have any other probs with the jeep along with the esp?

I only had 3 issues with the clock spring being bad. The ESP, the BAS and the Traction Control light all came on. Even though these lights were on, the ESP never took over and bogged down the power in a turn etc. The light is what drove me crazy. If just the ESP light is coming on and it is affecting your power, then I would assume that it is associated with steering geometry. If the light is coming on and you are not having any driving issues, I would take a look at the clock spring.

All three of those came on on me and stayed on and I thought my steering wheel was centered enough and I wasn't having any esp activation with the lights just staying on but I got into my driveway , backed up and moved forward several times and low and behold my steering wheel was off-center just a wee bit so I re-centered it for the third time and WALAH. Lights didn't come back on after that. But hey if you do all that and it still doesn't work, yeah' I'm with you, try the dealer. I just hate bringing mine there cause I know they would say the lift and big tires were to blame for everything. ( They may just be telling you it's the clockspring when they don't wanna take the time to do things right, it's a dealer, who knows?)

Default re esp

Hi... No intent to hijak the thread... can someone explain really what ESP is, the ESP button on the panel where the hazards are (2 dr o7), and the dash light that comes on when you hit that switch.

Thanks,
