ESP disable with a toggle switch

ESP disable with a toggle switch
There used to be a thread about disabling the ESP with a toggle switch here, but every time I try to bring it up I get an invalid thread message. Was this a bogus writeup and thus wiped out? Does anyone here know how to do this? I just installed a 4sp Atlas and the 4wd low (as opposed to the 4wd really low) doesn't register on the computer. Thus the ESP stays on and won't turn off when I'm in the original 4 low. I'd like to be able to disable the ESP at will as I still like the feature when I'm on the road. Thanks

I don't know if this is relavent to what you are asking - you can hold down the ESP button for 5 seconds in 4HI to disable the ESP. It is in the Owners Manual on page 111.
Like I said, I may be way off.....

Sorry I can't find the original. Either the search function sucks or I'm not using the right search parameters. I did find this one though. Hope it helps.

With the Atlas, the sensor doesn't register that the 4 hi is on so it doesn't let it disable. Atlas is working on a way to work it into the system, but the electronic companies they're trying to get to do it have much bigger fish to fry so we're on the back burner.

Right. When you yank the NP case, the sensor that tells the computer it's in 4x comes out with it. According to Atlas (and Jeep I'm sure) there are 4 degrees of 4x in the computer. Atlas feels that only the 4 low is important. Plus I think the settings available with the 4spd (2 hi, 2 super low, 4 hi, 4 low, 4 super low, 2 low front, 2 low rear, 2 super low front, 2 super low rear) would freak out the computer. So it's set up simple by Atlas to just indicate to the computer when it's in 4 super low (5.44). I plan on using the 2.77 most of the time so I want the ESP off when I'm using that as well.
