Couple questions. This came about because I am getting ready to purchase a CB and I would like to get a couple of other accessories later. So I wanted a cleaner way to connect multiple accessories to power. I really didn't know what I was getting into thinking about this in terms of dollars and technical skill. I am technical savvy however not very knowledgeable on electrical items such as this.

First off it would seem that jeep would take into account that we plan to add devices to our vehicle. It's all part of the fun right? Does the wranglers factory power source not take in account for anyone adding accessories so that we would not have to go straight to the battery or through another switching console?

If not, there seems to be two ways to do this, one being to go around the internal power connections straight to the battery and the other using the ignition switch to turn on the devices power. Going around it straight to the battery seems to be the easiest. If I wanted to tap into the ignition switch where do you tap The wires for power?

You also mentioned cambus issues with yours, what kind of problems are you having and should I be concerned if I went this route?

Using the ignition on to supply power are there other considerations that I need to take in account?

Factories rarely account for aftermarket shit . . unless its dealer supplied . . then there is normally a harness or adapter built in for it.

The ignition switch is a possible source but I like to keep all of my accessories separate and leave factory wiring as-is. Plus its alot easier to work under the hood than under the dash where my Amp etc is.

If you are concerned about the technical skill I would recommend an sPOD as the switches and relays etc built in.

As far as the Canbus is concerned . . .I had my PIAAs hooked up to a relay that was being triggered straight from the hibeam wire. . . . canbus sends a pulsed signal on the power line and it freaked out the relay tuning it on/off many, many, many times a second . . making a buzzing sound. This blew the bulbs after 5 min or so. I just need to add a diode & cap the the relay and replace the bulbs and I should be gtg.

I built a distro for my ram that used the aux panel from the 2500 ram. Here is the diagram and part numbers used. Can't remember where I got it but if you Google the part numbers you will find it. You would need to adjust for the type of input, this was ground switch in.
