I have the AEV, but i'm not going to beat that dead horse. From the standpoint of an E4 in the USCG(The pay is less than extrordinary), it was worth my money to go the more expensive route. Its a solid snorkel, well built and the instructions could be followed by a monkey.
Yes, the same install instructions work on the Chineese knock offs. I've heard the hardware supplied with the snorkel is crap though.
I'd rather give my money to the people smart enough to come up with badass products, so they can continue to create badass productsAttachment 300311
I'm 100% with you on this, I have a real hard time giving chinese rip off artists my hard earned $$.

I recently installed the AEV snorkel, and its a fine piece......thanks for the R&D for your well built product AEV, sorry the chinese ripped you off.

Do any of you guys have any concerns with driving in a downpour with the snorkel breather facing forward? Do you think that is a concern?

Driven through many Alabama downpours and haven't had any issues.

Old thread. How do you guys feel about the snorkel now? Does the Chinese snorkel have a prefilter?

mine came with a ram air, but there the same size as other snorkels so you can add a prefilter if youd like. Personally i got the Donaldson pre filter.

Both my friend and I have the ebay snorkles. He had no problems with the cutting or the install. I have the AEV hood so mine was a breeze. Shortly after this pic we both were splashing around in the ocean with our Jeeps and there was'nt any wettness in the breather box or the filter. I have some pics of my Jeep totally engulfed in a wave of water.

I am loving mine. Bought it shortly after my post on first page. Here's a pic of it tonight. Great for all my splashing and stupid stuff.

Also love how easy it is to see my Jeep with the snorkel.

Is the top of the snorkel higher than the jeep, for it to clear a home garage?
