Default Easy air intake upgrade for only $55!

So I thought it was ridiculous that companies charge upwards of 300 for jeep CAI. So I went to pep boys and bought a kit the had there (didn't fit) but the 3" K&N filter will fit on the intake tube leading to the airbox. Then all you need is a breather filter and you're good to go. The power increase is noticeable due to the removal of the restrictive stock airbox. Engine is louder also.

K&N 3" reusable air cone $45
Breather tube filter $10

Done in very easily and very cheap!

Also recommend the removal of the acoustic sound cover. I think the engine looks fine and that thing dampens a good amount of sound. I want to hear my 3.6 purr haha

you be sucking in lots of hot air with that set up. I would put a deflector on it to protect from the super heated air that comes thru the radiator. quality CAI focus on the Cold not just the air.

wouldnt be very hard to make a deflector for it, just use something maleable that you can insulate with some spray on expanding foam ya?

Ummm... Yeah... I agree kh202, there is a reason for either a box or a shield! You could call this one the hot air and water intake system! Lol maybe just a touch more R&D before you hit the market with this one... (shrug)

I guess if you drive only on pavement, that's cool, but even then, watch out for decent sized puddles.

I can almost guarantee you that you will lose HP with this setup. The factory airbox is not restrictive.

False bonanza! It sounds better and pulls harder. The factory airbox is quite restrictive. Small opening and lots of un-needed area inside the box. And K&N filters have much better flow than those stupid screen filters inside the stock box. Not too worried about water or mud that deep because I don't **** with stuff that deep haha. And the intake isn't really much lower compared to the stock opening.
