Default Duratrac/Procomp

I just got off the phone with a RK tech about the 2.5 max travel lift and Bilstein 5100's. I asked his opinion about 35" tire choice. I was sold on the Procomp Xterrain until he suggested a better choice with Goodyear Duratracs. Chime in with your thoughts. Thanks.........

Not heard great things about the Procomp tires.

You might not find Duratracs in your size right now. I've would go with KM2s, Nittos, or Toyos.

I have duratracs(315/70/17) and I like it so far. Couldn't find straight up 35 size but I believe it's pretty close. Haven't been to hardcore rock crawling per say; but for trails and on road performance, it's great.

I did Broken Arrow in Sedona, AZ with my Duratracs about 3 weeks ago, pretty decent rock climbing, check out YouTube for examples on it. The tire grabbed unbelievably a day were not to tore up when I got home. So far they are the best all around tire I have ever run and u have run KM2 in the past. In my opinion what makes them better than the KM2 is they are so much quieter for a daily driver yet performance just as well in sand and rock climbing, and even better than the KM2 in rain and snow. Haven't been mudding with them yet, but I would expect that one area where the KM2 would definitely outshine the Duratracs. Just my two cents.

I loved my duratracs(315/75-16). I just moved up to 37's last week and would have gotten duratracs if they made a 37. They performed beautifully in every situation i put them in

Depends on your driving habits. Assuming you're looking for and AT and not an MT, also checkout the BFG. They will give you more mileage than the Duratrac and have a thicker sidewall.

If you plan on doing any heavy/hard wheeling, I'd recommend considering an MT. They tend to have stronger a stronger sidewall and wont puncture as easily. For example, the duratrac has 2 ply sidewall. BFG AT has 3 ply. Goodyear MTR w/ kevlar has 10 ply.

Plus MT are usually better for wheeling, but won't handle as nicely on pavement, and you usually don't get as much mileage out of them.

If you live where there is a lot of rain and snow, I recommend Duratracs if you are only going to get one set of tires that will do everything. I bought 315/70/R17 Duratracs and not only does it behave like stock on streets, I offroad on it in muddy areas. I
actually pulled out peeps stuck in mud three times yesterday lol.
The treads clear out really good for my use and offroading style.

I had some Pro comp Mt Extremes. good rubber compound, nice and soft, good tread design, drove them through two winters they behaved moderately well, BUt...... I had to balance them pretty often and needed to rotate real regular to manage the wear. Got lots of vibratiuon from them, and needed to rotate to fix.

Ask around Pro comp quaility is not what it once was, lots of balance issues, they wear fast too.

was going to buy Duratracs for this winter, but decided to save a few bucks and bought Kelly Safari's TSR.

I prefer the Kelly tread pattern , more of a Mud tire lug pattern compared to the Duratrac.

so far no complaints. they handle great, not too noisy, look awesome and saved me about $300- $400 bucks

Love my GYDTs. Running 315/75/16. Very good off roading.. I go to Rausch creek. And Realky good in rain and snow. I also drive 40 miles each way to work. the tires hold up great after 30k miles. Great looking tread. I think very aggressive for an AT. I was thinking hard about nitro trail grapplers, then set my mind to the DTs. You'll be very happy with then.
