Default Duratrac as a DD compared to other ATs for highway noise

I'm thinking about changing my tires to something that is more aggressive looking and also a bit smaller to try and recover some power. I currently have Toyo ATs 285/75/17 and i'm looking at the Duratrac 285/70/17s to replace them.

I'm only concerned about the highway noise. I had Toyo MTs for a while which was supposed to be quiet but they drove me crazy. My current Toyo ATs are nice and quiet but also suck in the snow and I hear Duratracs are great in the snow.

Any comments on highway noise comparison between Duratracs and other ATs?

Is it too much to ask a tire store if I could test drive them a couple of miles on the highway?

I had them on my last vehicle (nitro), there was a mild hum, but nothing like other aggressive tires. highly recommend them

I can't believe how quiet they are compared to the stock tires even....

My duratracs are super quiet and smooth on the road compared to the toyo mt's I've got on my truck. The sidewall really concerns me when I'm off-road though. If I wheeled more often I don't think I'd keep the duratracs but seeing as how my jeeps a DD with occasional wheeling I'll probably keep them and get something with a stronger sidewall next go round.

My Duratracs are quieter than the stock SR-A tires. The only time they whine is when you are driving on perpendicular grooved pavement.

I hear my Duratracs a little more, but they are bigger than my old SR-A's and stick out further AND they grip better on most surfaces, especially wet ones. I can't wait for snow with these bad boys on.
Best mod so far on my rig. Highly recommended for a DD.

wow, If they are quieter than the stock SR-A tires I am going to be extremely happy. Even roughly the same or a tad louder would be fine.

Hmm, since you have a Rubicon I assume you are comparing them to an MT? I would hope they would be quieter.

I didnt really think the 32" MT's were loud at all...certainly not what I think of when I think of the noise that comes with a 35+ MT...but the Duratracs sure are quiet
