Default Drop pitman and Bracket safe....

I was wondering how many people are running 4 inch lifts with a drop pitman and a front drop down bracket that isn't braced to the frame. I have been running mine for like 800 miles so far and it doesn't seem like it will break. The welds seem to be holding up fine. How long did you go before your trackbar axle mount broke? Should this even be a concern?

just about every single person i know who's had an axle mounted track bar relocation bracket has eventually had death wobble and had this factory mount break. also, for whatever it's worth, i have seen at least two drop down brackets at the frame that weren't reinforced break the factory mount there as well.

I am running Rough Countries 4 inch lift with dropped Pittman arm and the frame mounted trackbar bracket for well over 5K miles and haven't had any issues yet.

Thanks for the replies. So the bracket that has the extension on it is the one that will break? I was under the impression the axle mounted bracket was the only thing breaking. Thanks for the replies. 5k is the longest so far.

most of the breaks are happening on the axle mount with or without a relocation bracket. so you know, anytime you install a relocation bracket, you are effectively applying more force to the factory bracket and in a bad way. unless the bracket is reinforced somehow (has extra bolt on tie-ins, gets welded on and/or has a support brace), you run the risk of fatiguing your factory mounts. over time, the metallurgy can cause them to fail and indicators of a failing mount is death wobble.

That's why TeraFlex has a brace on the #1600440 kit. Did you see what happened to toad's JK?

This kit is designed specifically to create smoother high speed handling when modified vehicles feel loose and unstable. This Trackbar Drop Bracket with Frame Brace and Drag Link Flip Kit is designed to lower the front roll center by lowering the trackbar at the frame with a drop bracket. The Drag Link Flip kit is added to correct the steering geometry; by lowering the trackbar, the angle between the trackbar and the drag link is changed. The flip kit is designed to place the trackbar and drag link at the same angle. This kit may be used to improve any lift kit with 5-6” of lift.

This kit is included with the TeraFlex 6" LA kit.

I have this on my JK with a TeraFlex 4" LA kit and it works great!! I can use it because a TeraFlex 4" raises the front 5.25".

I don't like dropped pitman with extended trackbar bracket from frame side as
it cause

1. extended pitman will be exposed to obstacles (rock) on the trail and
may possible damage on power steering gear box (worm gear) and
apply more unnecessary force on the shaft of worm gear end

Cost sensitive and critical safety issue!

2. Longer frame side bracket is too weak against extra force applied on it
and spread crack from the bracket to original one welded on the frame too.

If you use OE pitman arm, you need to modify drag link end to upside of
knuckcle (call it high steering) after reaming hole (conversion kit is available
on the market) then use another re-location bracket to move differential side
of trackbar end to make less phase (angle) of drag link and trackbar.

Of course, you need to welding with some steel plate to enhence durability
of track bar re-location bracket mounted on OE bracket on front axle.
This is more convenient and make modification only onto axle not frame.
