Default Driveshafts

My goal is to have 35's and a 4" lift on my '12 JK Sport. I know I will need a new driveshaft, but do I need a new front AND rear draftshaft? Do I need an extended driveshaft? What about durability? I've been looking around and not too sure on what I should even be looking for. This is my DD, but I plan to do some offroading. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You will certainly need the front. If you have a unlimited four door you can keep running the stock shaft but some folks change it anyway. I installed a Coast 1310 and have been happy with it so far.

honestly, are you sure you want 4" of lift? because, all you really need is 3" to clear 35" tires and anything more would throw off your center of gravity. either way, with a 2012, at 3" of lift or more, you really do want to replace your front shaft with an aftermarket 1310 shaft like the kind that coast or je reel makes. both use high quality u-joints standard. being that it looks like you have a 2-door, you will want to replace your rear shaft as well sooner than later as the steeper angle it will sit in will cause it to fail prematurely.

No worries, I've been running a 4in lift with no problems for over a year. Your only concern is warranty being voided.

If I go with a 3", what would you recommend? This is my DD and I don't plan to do much offroading right now, but I will be making some rock crawling trips here and there. Also, the cheaper the better. But I don't want to "get what I paid for". I'd like to get something that will perform on and off the road, and I won't be spending loads of money to fix.

When i first got my jeep, it was my DD too. I went with a 1.75in daystar coil spacer lift and a 1.25in rough country body lift. Cost me around $180 for the daystar and $125 for the rough country. The daystar will retain the comfort of your stock suspension. Overall you'l get 3inches of lift. I was able to fit 33's and later 35's. They're also easy to install.
