Did you buy the tapered reamer or the flip adapter? I was going to go with the adapter.. Cheaper and just as good IMO

Funny that you mentioned the tapered reamer. The email from my mod shop:

... I like the synergy because we ream the knuckle to a taper, instead of using the flip adapter, and we bought the reamer just for that.
I still don't really know what a reamer is, but I assume it's to put a bend in something to avoid using the adapter from your reply?

The reamer is just a tapered drill bit. Instead of drilling a straight through hole, the reamer makes it tapered so you don't need the adapter. Luckily your shop already has the reamer! It's 100 $ or so for it.

I would use a 13/16 drill and the insert. This will give you more surface area on the taper. The knuckle is already tapered from the other side so if you use a tapered reamer from the top it will leave you with very little suface area. I had to hit mine with a drimel after drilling. The ID ended up being around .850 and was a nice tap in fit.

The new TRE has a larger bore doesn't it? So the reamer will give you same fit as the adapter.. Won't it ?

Go to project JK there is a really detailed / labeled picture of the components on the Jeep. Use this to ID the parts and compare with pics from here or the internet. I'm sure someone will be way more detailed then me.
