Well technically it does. If speedo is off you might be at say 2400rpm at 70 but if corrected it will say drop to 2200. So it can and does affect tach

Tachymeter is for measuring speed using a watch. Tachometer is for directly measuring RPMs. Question was about tachometer. Tachometer does not change with changed tires or gears.

The tachometer was always accurate in its measurements, before and after programming.

The german tachometer does...

So much to learn here today. I also thought tachy and tacho were the same, but just different ways to write it.

That is true but now it reads the engine speeds at the corrected mph. We are saying same thing kinda.

I know what you are saying. But let's not leave anyone thinking the tach is what is affected. The relationship between the engine's actual rpm and the reading on the tach doesn't change when the tire size and the gear ratio are reprogrammed.

Default Ok looks like the score is 2yes and 3 no .

Looks like I will go with no. I just wanted to make sure what I am looking on my tach now is actual rpm of engine . It looks like with 4:88's I will be turning about 2,400 rpm in O/D with 32" tires and auto trans. 3.8 engine.
