Default Does the factory tow package come with a tranny cooler?

I've never had a factory tow package that didn't but I just want to be sure since I just bought a new fishing boat to catch me some sail fish. It will actually be real mellow towing from my house on the beach a few miles to the marina ramp.

There is no freestanding cooler, but the lines do run through the radiator. Although it isn not very difficult to hook up a freestanding cooler. Most auto parts carry them for about $50.

Do you guys think that's enough for not too heavy towing or am I better off with the separate tranny cooler? It's only $100 installed so I'm not sweating the money but I just want to make sure it's even worth it.

I would think that you are OK as long as you are within the towing specs (2000lb/2dr and 3500#/4dr).

According to some comments I read from Jeep Engineers, the limiting factor on the towing capacity is engine cooling/temp (I'm pretty sure that's what they said). Anyway.........in responding to a question about tranny cooling, they cautioned about problems which could result if running the tranny to cool. It seems that if you are going to run one it might be practicle to include some form of temp monitoring/control on the system. I sure don't know what those parameters would be....but...I'm sure it could be researched.

From what I've read.......I don't think you need one as long as you tow within spec.

How much does tire size effect towing capacity as far as putting more strain on the tranny? I'm putting 35's on and was hoping to avoid regearing since I only drive this thing in town usually under 35 mph. It is a 4 door so around town should I still be ok up to 3500 lbs even with 35's?

As long as the weight rating on the tires will allow that towing capacity you will be fine. BUT if you are running 35' tires and towing without re-gearing then you will have a slug on your hands.

I have 35's and tow a 17.5' bass boat all the time. It will tow it no problem. If you do tow just turn off the overdrive.
