Default Do I need Spacers to run 315/70/R17 Guard dogs? it says its 11.8in wide..

Hi all,
Do I need Spacers to run 315/70/R17 Guard dogs? it says its 11.8in wide..

I want to purchase these Guard Dogs cause they appear to be a the best bang for the buck and 34.7in tall is pretty close to advertised 35in.

I will not purchase them if I need wheel spacers. The last thing I need is more weight and more money spent on this set-up.. Afterall, my goal is to run 35in tires on my 2012 Wrangler Sport with a factory suspension on a budget.

Thank you,
bigC

Here you go ....https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modi...bie-has-18617/ read this link and it will answer a lot of your questions. To sum it up, anything over 285/70/17 on a stock wheel will rub even then with a 285 tire you might need wheel spacers. The only way to not use wheel spacers is to buy some after market wheels with a minimum back space of 4.75. Again read the link, full of good information.

Thank you.

I just read through that and darn. I guess those tires do require me to run a spacer after all.

I know SuperSwamper makes some 34x10.5 R17 tires too. I think 4wheelparts has them for $1125 out the door for 4 of them. I may have to go with these but really hoping I can find some 35in tires in 10.5in~11 wide on my 17 rims.

You can use a 11.5" without spacers if you limit your turning radius. There is a trick using washers I'm sure you can find on here with the search function. I've got 11.5" with 1.5" spacers highly recommend you go that route or new rims. Unless you like the tall and skinny look.

Funny, that is the look I been after. The pizza cutter look. I really like the old school tall and skinny tire look, plus it will offer a overall ligther package than a fatter 12.5in wide tire and great on in the mud.

Max wideness is 11.4in.

My goal was to get a good set of All-Terrain or Mud-Terrain tires in 34~35in tall by 10.5~11.4in wide for my 17 rims under $1000.

I may have to get 15in or 16in rims, but then this adds another $200 bucks to the costs.

Hahaha you and my brother would get along. Personally, I like a little balance. But that's the great thing about a jeep, you make it your own.

The little washer trick involves removing the steering stops behind the c's on the front axle, place a thick washer under the jam nut, and reinstall them. Works great.

I'd personally get an aftermarket set of 17's. Wheels are very reasonable in 17's.

It's an mt tread pattern from treadwrights tires. They are retreads. They tend to run tall compared to original cores. Mine came on nitto cores and after 5k miles are doing great. It's a great option if you are not ready to move to 35s but want bigger rubber for a year or two. I can easily see getting 40k from these tires. And at 700 for 5 tires the price is great!
