What is a H/D hitch? Im not sure if its not allowed to publish links in the JK forum? But I cannot find it for the JK online.

Bottom line, I'd like to beef up my hitch if i have to bc a trailer is hard living in SF. I just have one bike that needs to move from place to place. If you can direct me to something that is proven to work I'd be extremely happy over here.

thanks!!

Go with the Joe hauler! You won’t be disappointed. I guy the race and if they have a bumper type set up it is always a Joe hauler.

I'm considering the same thing for my JK 4dr Sahara. I see several people with this setup with "no issues" while others are saying don't do it, it'll sag, drive terribly, etc.

So what is the verdict with our JKs? Is this possible or not? Is highway driving possible?

I need to haul a Yamaha TW200 (about 300lbs) on my hitch. I have a 33x12.5 spare that would probably need to be taken off as extending the hitch would really add to the weight pressure.

Thoughts? Is there a better hitch or carrier setup that will work with our JK? I have a 5x8 motorcycle trailer but I don't want to tow that thing around all the time.

I'm looking at joe hauler, versahauler, trackside, and others.

Here is mine with my YZ250. I drove from Tx to TN without any issues. I picked up the trailer at harbor freight for like 110 dollars. The only thing is I strap the bike to the trailer and anchor it to the spare tire to help with the sway of the trailer when I turn. I also have the stock tire on the back.

Awesome. How much does the YZ250 weigh? I think having it mounted closer to the jeep (Without spare or hitch extension) will help distribute the weight better and make it easier to drive.

So the harbor freight "cheap" hauler seemed to do the job just fine? Cycle Gear has one very similar for $99 right now... lot better than the $500 price of the other ones, but I'm nervous about quality.

But first want verification that is is an ok idea in the first place.

I think my bike is about 230 with a full tank. I just had to move and needed a quick and cheap way to take the bike with me. Since the move I have used the trailer to transport the bike a couple of times up to as far as three hours from my house. The only thing I would be cautious of is if you are planning on going offroad to get to where you want to take the bike I would make sure it is secure to the spare tire so it doesn't sway left to right. The only other fix I can think of is if you where to weld or drill and screw some runners on each side that came off the bottom of the trailer and tucked under the bumper so the trailer couldn't sway at all. If you just need to get it from one place to another on pavement then I think it's a fast easy cheap way to go.

Just took my son out on his TTR50 with a hitch extension (because of the spare) and there was a ton of sag. I wouldn't do it with a full size bike. My old KTM 450 would've snapped the rack in half.

How come so much sway? Is there a lot of play in the hitch itself? I noticed a couple carriers came with a hitch lock/clamp type of deal to prevent the movement I guess.

Yikes! Yeah I'm going to have to remove my spare and put inside or get a roof rack and put spare up there.
