Default Dilemma, with heavy 10 ply tires!

Boy, I got a dilemma. I just installed a set of BFG 305/65/17 TA K/O on a set of AEV Pintler. I did not realize that these were E rated 10 ply tires and weigh 63 lbs a piece. They look very good on the jeep, but you can tell they are very heavy. Yesterday while going on a 60 mile drive it was very windy and the combination of the wind and heavy tires, I was fighting the jeep to keep it straight. The jeep wants to wonder with just small rutting in the highway, it feels like it is leaning left and right all the time.
I'm thinking my fix will be to:
scrap the tires and get some that weight less (lose allot of money).
or
Check the alignment, (maybe the camber and toe in changed with the larger tires and offset rims) and add a set of Rancho 9000 shocks to stiffing up the suspension some.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would bet you are running way too much air in those tires, causing the wandering. You need to do a chalk test, but I would drop them to about 28 psi and go from there.

Wider tires will wander more in ruts etc. It is counter-intuitive but I found the same when I put on my 33x12.5x15's. They want to track with whatever little rut exists on the pavement.

Something else is going on if you are fighting your jeep. I can run 75mph with my 10ply tires and drive with one finger.

Same here. He either has way too much air in them, or something else is going on.

I have played with the air pressure, from 26 to 32 lbs. I found that it tracks best at 32. I'm thinking that I could use a alignment, even though it is a new jeep, the wider tires and offset in the rims makes a difference.

Running 35" Toyo Open country MTs

The issue I had was my roll center in the rear was higher than my roll center in the front. Like most lift kits, a new bracket was installed in the rear for the track bar to raise it. The front was never raised. Installed a Drag link Flip kit, which included a raised front bracket and a flipped drag link and it tamed my Jeep.

Measure the height of the mounting point of the track bar (axle end) versus the rear, it will tell you a lot.

Not running a lift, left it stock for now. I have some heaver springs off a 4 door that i can install later. I had a 08 with a 2 1/2 rock krawler lift with added lower track bars. That jeep ran good with general grabber at2 33 12.50 17. It did not wonder on the hwy at all. That's what made me think that the E rated tires was causing my problems. The General tires were C rated, but weighted about the same. Don't know, but the more I think, the shocks are to soft and may need a alignment.

I agree. I have 35" Nitto Trail Graps that weigh 75lbs. My Jeep doesn't wander at 75mph. I just drove it through 20+ mph winds/gusts, and that was a pain, but it was still controllable.
