Diff oil change after regear
I just have a question for anyone who has had a regear. My 500 miles post regear is almost up and just wanted to know can I just change my oil and inspect the plug or should I take the diff covers of and inspect the gears? Thoughts?

My 500 miles is coming up as well. I plan to inspect the gears, but I also did the regear myself. So I suppose unless you know what you are looking for in wear patterns, then maybe it's not worth it. But I do plan to look for any possible chipping or large metal shavings. All it costs you is more RTV and some time.

Did the shop that did your regear include the 500 mile inspection and new gear oil with the install of new gears ? Good ideal just to drain the oil pull dff cover and visually check everything anyway if your not going to have shop do it..

You have to ask? I understand not everyone is setup for the perfect peep show but just looking at something as raw and sexy as oily gears is strangely exciting. In all likelihood things are just fine but considering the recent change I would recommend inspecting them. If things aren't lined up well you want to know now. However unlikely, you aren't going to be happy if you experience a catastrophic failure in the next few months that you could have predicted or prevented.
That's my two cents and I don't want any change given back.

I understand that the gear oil change was not included BUT I would certainly hope that the shop who put these in would want to look at them to verify of a good pattern and wear? Did they include any type of guarantee on the labor?
