Default Decals-----No Bubbles!!!

I'm getting ready to install some wrangler hood decals. No matter how careful I am, I always get a couple of air bubbles. I always put them on dry, should I try it wet? Any special tricks?
Thanks!!!

I have had the most success in applying wet, with some soapy solution and using a rubber squeegee type of tool to push the air bubbles out with. When I had the TJ repainted and had the wrangler and sport decals put back on, I talked with the guy when he put them back on, he said that this was the easiest way to get it right.

If you get a couple of bubbles here and there, don't worry about it. They will most likely work themselves out within the next couple of days.

You can also use a needle to poke a hole in the bubble and then push the air out. You need to be very careful or you will end up with a pucker in the decal.

This. That's the technique the friend who painted my Trans Am used for the hood decal ...

Make friends with a body shop Lol that's what I've done. So the bigger decals that I don't feel comfortable doing, I like to let a pro do it. But I agree with the above statements all the way. Main thing is TAKE YOUR TIME and stay out of the wind.

use a little bit of soap in a bottle of water spray on the jeep and the sticker, put it where you want it and squeegee it smooth and let it sit in the sun for a little while and then pull the tape off... done

It is, though it was repainted. The friend who did that was meticulous about perfect, original details. He restores TAs as a hobby. 49K miles on it.

I do a lot of decals I normally like to use Glass cleaner as it evaporates faster. and you can move it around easily. with the rubber squeegee work from one side out and up or down from the middle. do this before you remove the paper covering from the top. once you have it in place remove the paper covering and whip as with all the glass cleaner out from under the sticker it will attach itself to the vehicle. I will post a how too this weekend.

I work at a body shop so I do this all the time. with Mylar and decals.

do not I repeat do not poke a hole into the decal you will see in a few months of hot weather and driving as it pulls and drys out.
