Default Death wobble

Well today on my way to work I got a huge taste of "The Death Wobble". I was on I -95 doing about 60 when the front end started to shake violently thank god I was at the blue route /I 95 split and could pull over safely. Stabilizer is on its way now😁

DW isn't caused by a bad steering stabilizer. A SS can mask/hide DW for a while, but the cause of Death Wobble is worn or loose front steering/suspension parts.

You need to check all the steering componets. Track bar, drag link, ball joints, tie rod, and all bolts and hardware.

There's a couple of good threads on death wobble. Just search for them.

The dealer service and many others will tell you it's the steering damper/stabilizer. IT IS NOT!!! I bought a heavy duty Rancho and put it on. Death wobble in the same spot on the highway doing 60. See Planmans DW videos (2) on You tube. Diagnose it yourself with an assistant. See this link to hear all the good info from forum members. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-t...8/#post3546394

I Just put on a 3 1/2 inch lift so as soon as it stops raining I am going to make sure everything is tighten up. But until then I won't drive it that scared the hell out of me!

Who installed the lift?

If the lift was just installed, my bet is the track bar bolts are not torqued correctly...

Heather, the source of your DW is not the steering stabilizer. I have frequently taken mine off and ran many miles with little difference. I hope whoever put your lift in loosened the LCA/UCA's before the install and dropping it down. I'd have them go back and take another look at all of the bolts.

Me and my son put the lift on he put the same lift on his jeep and had no problem. He did say we have to check and make sure everything is tight. I read a lot that the stabilizer may not be needed but it may just give me a piece of mind to have it.

Yup my 2012 with a 2.5" BB had a small case of DW, but only happened going over a set of rail road tracks at like 15-20 mph. I got the Northridge grade 8 bolt kit. So far i just replaced the track bar bolts and torqued to 125 ft-lb and it seemed to fix the issue. I would start by torquing those two bolts down and see if that takes care of it.

What are LCA/UCA bolts? I don't know if that was done or not.
