Default Dana 44 front locker

I'm gettin ready to order an Unlimited X (with locker and discon) after I sell the YJ. I can't quite decide on 35s or 37s. Seems like 35s will work, but I can't get the 37s outa my head. If I do run 37s, its recommended to run the Dana 44 up front. Well I saw the rubicon D44 bolt-in for a JK w/ locker for $1459. The only functional thing seperating this setup from a rubicon is the 4:1 transfer case, for about 5000 less.

My question: If I do get the mopar axle does the X wiring harness have the axle connection for the front locker?

Unfortunately, I doubt it. More than likely, you will need to get the entire dash switch assembly for a Rubicon as well as the wiring harness for it. Either way, I'd bet it would still be a deal.

Or, many have done the same and just wired in a switch in the cab thats ran off a relay. It will save a bit of money because factory wiring harnesses are bank.

Default will the Front Dana 44 be a 3.73 then?

If you are ordering the JK unlimited then it must be a 08. I thought only the Rubicon comes with 4.1 now and everything else is a 3.73 or 3.21? Is the dana 44 a 3.73 or 4.1? you might want to look into this. Also I maybe wrong but I thought the rear rubicon axle is 32 spline 44 while the others are 30 spline 44 I thought the rubicon was a bit stronger because of this?

This is correct. You can't put the factory switch bank in unless you change out your entire inside wiring harness as well. This would be a ridiculous task. Then you would probably also have to have your computer reprogrammed for the locker. It is pretty easy to just run your own relays.

That's a good point. You will likely have to regear your factory rear unless the 4.10 still comes with the rear locker option.

You cannot get 4.10's on an '08 X, so you will have to regear. One thing I was very disappointed with when we started looking into them. I was thinking along the lines of something the OP is planning and then throwing a atlas/stak underneath as well...

I bet the switch and relay set up for the Eaton E-Locker would be adaptable for it.
Probably be a lot cheaper also.

It very well may, but I got all I needed from a local car stereo shop. Relay with harness, and switch for under $20. I already had enough wire to do it without buying more, but it wouldn't have added much more $$.

Check around this forum. I saw the d44 bolt in with locker/rotors, etc... for $1280.
If I find the link I will post it.
