Dana 30 Leak

Dana 30 Leak
I have diff fluid leaking out of the front drivers side axle tube onto the steering knuckle. I just changed the fluid could this be from overfilling it? Or is the axle tube seal leaking and need to be replaced? Thanks

I'll find the thread and post it for you, but you're supposed to put only the amount called for by the factory. If you fill more than that, you will have a mess on your hands.

Thanks for that. I am going to drain it tommorow and fill with the amount that says. I still dont think any should be leaking out of the axle tube it seems from what i've been reading that if it were over filled it would leak out of the breather tube.

I agree with you but.....The gear oil will take the path of least resistance. So check the top of your breather and make sure it's not clogged while you're under there.

I would encourage you to check and make sure the vent line is not plugged at each oil change on the diff's. I have seen them plug up and force the oil out the axle shaft seals too.
