You have the 3.8... no limp mode for you. Lol.
Did you consider a heavy diff cover to protect your investment.

if you are on a budget, gusset the dana 30 and add 5.13s do ball joints if you have to.... then Save up funds and go to a PR44 with an ARB locker when you want to upgrade.

I have been running a dana30 with 5.13s with no issues for a few years. I am planning on going to PR44 or Dana 60 soon, just because its next in my build but my Dana 30 has held up just fine.

Some of the strength issues with 5.13's in Dana 30's have me a little gun shy. But my gut tells me I should be fine. Our off roading is basically limited to muddy roads and fields. Definitely no rock crawling in our plans!
Also, does a heavy duty differential cover do any good?( I just noticed one kit includes them)

Yes sir it does. The heavy duty covers strengthen the center section to help prevent gear deflection and premature carrier bearing wear.

However I would say most gear failures are due to bouncing up a steep climb rather then defection.

I concur. That, and adding a locker to the 30!
