I don't think you can use junk yard axles with a JK because of the tone rings.

I would loose my ABS and ESP. For sure with the junk yard axels. But I'm not 100% sure what else it would effect because I don't know what all is tied in to the ABS system

Thats not true on a few things on this thread. There is already post about the difference between the prorock 44 and the currie F9 going around. The 60 wouldn't add 4inches either, depending on what junk truck you get it from or have a dynatrac. your looking at adding maybe an inch each side. Plus if your using a junk yard 60 you can cut the tubes down and make it shorter that way. if you dont plan on EVER going bigger than 37s Id go with the prorock 44. Better ground clearance and tubes over the F9.

If you can do the work yourself you can build junkyard axles front and rear for about 7500 bucks. FYI superduty axles have tone rings and will work with the jk electronics. I built my front and had the rear built. I've got about 8k in mine and everything works fine.

If you go to a 60 you will need new wheels but with the 9" I believe you can keep your 5on5

If you can't do it yourself order one, a shop will charge you a small fortune to build it.

You say you already have a 9" Ford center section. Is this a HP or LP set up? If it's low pinion, you're going to want to be very careful getting your pinion angle correct. A HP 44, such as the Rubi or PR housing, has the pinion center line at 1.5" over the axle center line (the stock HP 30 has the pinion center line 1-1/8" over the axle center line). A LP 9" is 2.25 below the axle center line. Dropping your drive shaft 3.75" is a huge difference and your pinion angle/drive shaft angle is going to be terrible. A TrueHi9 is a good option but that will put you far over your stated budget.

The one I have is a low pinion. Haven't thought about that drive line problem thanks for pointing that out. I want a. Bolt in housing so I can put it in my self really. If I do junk yard housings I'll clean them upend get all the old brackets cut off and ground down then I'll have The Off Road Connection do all the install on those. I cant set gears up so They will be setting my gears up any way I go just so many of options it's over whelming!

The f9 uses my stock outer knuckles and unit bearings so I could keep my wheels

If you want a axle with the gears already in it, and a direct bolt in, that reuses your wheel knuckles etc, sounds like you want a pr44 from Northridge 4x4

Default Axle width

Someone commented that the sixty doesn’t add four inches to the width. I stand corrected, it adds three inches. Right from the Dynatrac web page. The pro rock 60 "minimum" width is 68.5 and the 44 is 65.5. Still more than I wanted to add to tires already poking out of the wheel wells.

I've decided against the f9 because someone pointed out it uses factory "C"'s and I'd have to gusset them so I'm looking more at the. Pro rock 44 or the teraflex Tera 44 I think the 60's are out of my reach as far as the money goes. Anyone know anything about the Tera 44?
